The article studies the issue of creative thinking, cognitive styles and coping strategies among students, the relevance of which is determined by modern society and social order that requires from a young specialist creativity, non-standard approach, generating new ideas that can help him overcome difficulties and resolve stressful situations. In order to analyze the correlation between the indicators of creative thinking, cognitive styles «field dependence-field independence» and the strategies of coping behavior of students, an empirical study was conducted. The empirical study was attended by 52 people, including 26 students of the faculty of humanities and 26 students of the faculty of mathematics. As a psycho-diagnostic instrumentation were chosen the methodology of J. Bruner to determine the types of thinking and the level of creativity, Gottschaldt's Hidden Figure Test and «Ways of Coping Questionnaire» by R. Lazarus and S. Folkman. The interpretation of the results of this research has allowed to draw the main conclusions: students-humanitarians with developed creative thinking are focused on external factors who do not strive to solve the problem, but when faced with a problem situation, primary negative reaction interferes with its fast solution, thereby, giving them the opportunity to plan and find the best solutions to this stressful situation; creative studentsmathematicians are less affected by external factors, have a high control of the emotional sphere, that they're able to generate new decisions that allows them to take conscious steps to solve the problem.
