The article outlines relevance of changing criteria for assessment of knowledge, skills and abilities concerning martial arts technique possessed by the Interior Ministry officers. The exam is supposed to be divided into two parts (theoretical and practical). The theoretical part aims to build ideomotor perceptions, trajectories of movements in response to the opponent’s counteraction, which provides an opportunity to purposefully develop spatial imagination and movement anticipation. At the practical part of the exam the officers independently take decisions to apprehend an offender according to the degree of social threat caused by the committed offence.
