В данной статье предлагается на основе анализа текстов выступлений в сентябре 2008 года Майкла Макфола и Кондолизы Райе, представляющих Демократическую и Республиканскую партий США, выяснить: как оценивался во внешнеполитических кругах американской политической элиты августовский кризис в международных отношениях; какие теоретические подходы лежат в основе их анализа ситуации и выработки стратегии действий; какие изменения происходят в американском видении проблем международной безопасности вследствие указанного кризиса.
