Prospects of the U.S. policy towards Russia following the August crisis of 2008

The article is based on the analysis of two important speeches given in September 2008 by Professor Michael McFaul and Secretary Condoleezza Rice who presented the views that can in a way be considered as representing the attitudes of the Democrats and the Republicans as far as they concern: the August crisis in international relations of 2008 and how it was assessed inside American political circles; theories, which formed the core of their analysis of the situation and helped developing their strategies of action; changes which are underway in the U.S. vision of international security problems that emerged following the crisis.
