Новые данные о ландшафте северной части византийского города на плато Эски-Кермен

В конце VI в. в Юго-Западном Крыму на плато Эски-Кермен византийскими инженерами была построена крепость для защиты местного гото-аланского населения, а также для охраны подступов к Херсону - главному форпосту империи на полуострове. В 2022 г. в ходе археологических работ в северной части плато Эски-Кермен, считавшейся исследователями незастроенной территорией, был открыт христианский храм, что позволило по-новому реконструировать городской ландшафт этой части города. Раскопана юго-восточная часть храма с полукруглой в плане апсидой, участками южной стены и наоса. В центре алтарной части in situ сохранился престол, сделанный в виде стола на граненом столбе. На западной и восточной сторонах столба высечены кресты и сделаны углубления для двух реликвий. Основание престола вырублено в скальном монолите еще при подготовке площадки под строительство храма, когда поверхность скалы выравнивалась и стесывалась. Стены храма возводились уже вокруг изготовленного под престол основания. Таким образом, в северной части города на плато Эски-Кермен с раннесредневекового времени вплоть до гибели города в конце XIII в. функционировал христианский храм. По величине это было второе, после главной базилики, здание в городе. Храм был построен для жителей, располагавшихся поблизости, вдоль восточного края плато, кварталов. На протяжении своего существования храм обновлялся, о чем свидетельствуют небольшая перестройка в апсиде и отверстие для дополнительной реликвии на западной стороне престола. В X в., после того как городской некрополь на юго-восточном склоне плато прекратил свое существование и в кварталах на плато стали возводиться часовни для захоронений, рядом с «Северным» храмом появился некрополь, на котором хоронили своих умерших жители северных кварталов.
