The article focuses on the problem of aesthetic experience - a cornerstone concept in philosophical hermeneutics of German philosopher and theorist of humanitarian thinking H-G. Gadamer. The topicality of this problem is caused by the fact that today we see the growing interest in the formulation and study of the problem of empirical knowledge in the humanities. In contrast to the aesthetic transcendentalism Gadamer formulates the notion of «aesthetic experience». In his opinion, aesthetic experience can give us access to the truth and explain how the truth is achieved in humanitarian knowledge and historical understanding. Gadamer suggests to historiorize the historical subject itself against the commonly spread from the end of the 18th century idea that historical subject is transcendental in relation to History and can claim a special truth and place in cognition of the past. Why according to Gadamer historical experience and aesthetic truth are interrelated? Why can we conclude that despite the criticism of aestheticism, the experience of art is an expression of genuine experience? This article is an attempt to study these complex problems.
