Many business especially Banks’s services are expanding to include services directed not only to corporate customers but also to individual customer. Furthermore, by the increment of those services, many individual applications to be processed also increases as well. Facing an immense moment, in which requiring more improvements in how it should manage or maintain its applications, some systems or procedures must be improved to match currently increasing customers’ applications. Prior to the improvements, many application forms are filled, input to machine and even to be processed and approved manually. Until recently, application fulfillment processes consists of manual information filling by applicants in an application request paper and later to be re-input by electronic data processing staff which is actually redundant. Aware of such situation, this paper proposes and idea to reduce input processes in an integrated business system by utilizing character recognition system.

Статья научная

Vehicular Ad Hoc network is a versatile mobile wireless Ad-Hoc network targeted to support traffic monitoring, vehicular safety and many more applications. For the robust and reliable services in the VANET there is need to investigate the performance under frequent handovers in Mobile IP to prevent packet loss. Mobile IP is an interface that helps to track the mobile nodes and deliver messages even if vehicles are out of the coverage area of home node. In order to find the achievable performance bounds in terms of throughput, packet drop, collision rate and packet broadcast rate, extensive simulations have been done. A realistic city scenario has been proposed here by using the Rayleigh channel simulator, mobile IP enabled IEEE 802.11p OBUs and RSUs. The transmission powers of RSUs and threshold power levels have been varied to obtain the optimum performance through realistic conditions. Simulations are performed using NCTUns6.0 (National Chiao Tung University Network Simulator) in mobile IP interface.

On Approximate Equivalences of Multigranular Rough Sets and Approximate Reasoning

On Approximate Equivalences of Multigranular Rough Sets and Approximate Reasoning

B. K. Tripathy, Anirban Mitra

Статья научная

The notion of rough sets introduced by Pawlak has been a successful model to capture impreciseness in data and has numerous applications. Since then it has been extended in several ways. The basic rough set introduced by Pawlak is a single granulation model from the granular computing point of view. Recently, this has been extended to two types of multigranular rough set models. Pawlak and Novotny introduced the notions of rough set equalities which is called approximate equalities. These notions of equalities use the user knowledge to decide the equality of sets and hence generate approximate reasoning. However, it was shown by Tripathy et al, even these notions have limited applicability to incorporate user knowledge. So the notion of rough equivalence was introduced by them. The notion of rough equalities in the multigranulation context was introduced and studied. In this article, we introduce the concepts of multigranular rough equivalences and establish their properties. Also, the replacement properties, which are obtained by interchanging the bottom equivalences with the top equivalences, have been established. We provide a real life example for both types of multigranulation, compare the rough multigranular equalities with the rough multigranular equivalences and illustrate the interpretation of the rough equivalences through the example.

On Construction of Gene-PDB Structure Mapping with Applications in Functional Annotation of Human Genes

On Construction of Gene-PDB Structure Mapping with Applications in Functional Annotation of Human Genes

Xi Chen, Hao Jiang, Wai-Ki Ching, Limin Li

Статья научная

Protein 3D structure is one of the key factors in recognizing gene functions. The availability of protein structure data in Protein Data Bank (PDB) enables us to conduct gene function analysis. However, the molecules in the PDB, whose structures have been determined, are always not corresponding to a unique gene. That is to say, the mapping from gene to PDB is not one-to-one. Thus this uncertain property complicates the analysis and increases the difficulty of gene function analysis. In this paper, we attempt to tackle this challenging issue and we study the problem of predicting gene function from protein structures based on the gene-PDB mapping. We first obtain the gene-PDB mapping, which is important in representing a gene by the structure set of all its corresponding PDB molecules. We then define a new gene-gene similarity measurement based on the structure similarity between PDB molecules. We further show that this new measurement matches with gene functional similarity nicely. This means that the measurement we introduced here can be useful for gene function prediction. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate our claim.

Karima Mahdi, Raida Elmansouri, Allaoua Chaoui

Статья научная

In this work we present an approach and a tool for transforming business patterns to labelled Petri nets. This transformation is justified by the fact that Petri nets have efficient analysis techniques. We specify first, business patterns and labelled Petri nets Meta-Models in UML Class Diagram formalism with the Meta-Modelling tool Atom3, and then we generate visual modelling tools according to the proposed Meta-Models. Finally, we define a graph grammar which transforms Business Patterns models to Labelled Petri Nets model for analysis purposes. The approach is illustrated with examples.

Hongjuan Tian, Yuge Zheng

Статья научная

The research of Boolean index sets of graphs is one of the important graph theory in the graph theory. Boolean index sets of graphs are to use the vertex sets and the edge sets of graphs to study the characteristics of various graphs and their inherent characteristics through corresponding the mapping function to Z_2. Its theory can be applied to information engineering, communication networks, computer science, economic management, medicine, etc. The edge-balance index set is an important issue in Boolean index set. In this paper, we defined edge-friendly labeling of the graph, edge-balance index set of the graph and the graph C_(n^m) × P_(m_n) (n=4,m≥2). We completely determine the edge-balance index sets of the graph C_(4^m) × P_(m_4) (m=0(mod3)) and solve formula proof and graphic tectonic methods.

Kanu Priya, Jyoteesh Malhotra

Статья научная

In today's era of modernization, the concept of smart vehicles, smart cities and automated vehicles is trending day by day. VANET (Vehicular Adhoc Network) has also been emerging as a potential applicant to enable these smart applications. Though VANET is very much similar to MANET (Mobile Adhoc Network) but VANET has more severe challenges as compared to MANET due to hostile channel conditions and high degree of mobility. So lot of work related to MAC and Network Layer need attention from the network designers. In this paper MAC Layer has been optimised in terms of Queue Size by using QoS Parameters namely Packet Collision Rate, Packet Drop Rate, Throughput Rate and Broadcast Rate. In doing so, simulative investigations have been done to find out optimum queue size. For this purpose various routing protocols namely DSDV, AODV, ADV and GOD have been considered and optimum queue length for each of these have been obtained. Further the most efficient routing protocol has also been identified. Moreover this paper also compares the performance of most efficient Routing Protocols selected in terms of QoS parameters for different MAC Interfaces.

Статья научная

Manual student attendance tracking, by calling student names from a check list or taking students’ signs on a paper, has gone into history. Nowadays, modern technologies have already enabled the development of various automatized attendance tracking systems. These technologies include: Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), Biometric (fingerprint, face or voice recognition), Barcode identification and Bluetooth communication technologies, that are implemented over an IP infrastructure as a platform. But, all these technologies perform in a different manner and exhibit certain functional limitations considering the given implementation. The main motivation for this research was to explore the possibilities for overcoming the issues of current systems for attendance tracking, considering the limitations of the technologies employed. Hence, the core contribution of this research can be considered as a fourfold, i.e. i) it presents the most frequently used technologies in the development of attendance tracking systems, ii) it reviews a range of existing student attendance tracking systems, iii) it defines criteria for performance evaluation of the technologies employed in student attendance tracking, from a perspective of educational institutions, and iv) it evaluates the mostly used technologies according to the predefined functional criteria. As a summary of the evaluation it provides directions for future development of a student attendance tracking system that would address the explored issues and functional limitations.

Статья научная

The performance of one-bit hard combination decision scheme for cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radio has been studied in this paper. Energy detector model is used to observe the presence of primary user signal. Simulation result shows that the probability of missed detection is decreasing for both conventional hard combination and one-bit hard combination with OR rule according to the increasing of probability of false alarm. It also has demonstrated that one-bit hard combination decision scheme exhibits comparable performance with the conventional scheme and thus achieves a good tradeoff between performance and complexity.

Ontologies as Building Blocks of Cloud Security

Naila Samad Shaikh, Affan Yasin, Rubia Fatima

Статья научная

Much like other processing domains, cloud computing is not surely safe. Security of cloud processing needs the same attention as any other aspect of cloud processing requires. Cyber world is shifting toward ontological technique and web 3.0 or web semantics for security. Cloud hosts servers demand more attention in context of security as number of resources and their access increases. Security measures have to be more extensive in cloud. Semantic web is usually new revolution inside the web science, which usually works upon base of ontologies. Ontologies are receiving great attention in the domain of computing and hence in the domain of security. This review paper examines different proposed “ontology centered techniques” and also provides a comprehensive analysis on these tactics. This research paper gives critical analysis of different models presented by different authors and researchers for ensuring security of a cloud based environment. This analysis helps different vendors of cloud technology to adapt one or all of these models to practically implement in their cloud machines whether they are offering IaaS, PaaS or SaaS. Any new security model using ontologies can also be proposed based on this study, as this paper gives a comprehensive comparison of the previously proposed ontologies for monitoring security state of cloud environment as safe or malicious.

Ontology Based Information Retrieval in Semantic Web: A Survey

Ontology Based Information Retrieval in Semantic Web: A Survey

Vishal Jain, Mayank Singh

Статья научная

In present age of computers, there are various resources for gathering information related to given query like Radio Stations, Television, Internet and many more. Among them, Internet is considered as major factor for obtaining any information about a given domain. When a user wants to find some information, he/she enters a query and results are produced via hyperlinks linked to various documents available on web. But the information that is retrieved to us may or may not be relevant. This irrelevance is caused due to huge collection of documents available on web. Traditional search engines are based on keyword based searching that is unable to transform raw data into knowledgeable representation data. It is a cumbersome task to extract relevant information from large collection of web documents. These shortcomings have led to the concept of Semantic Web (SW) and Ontology into existence. Semantic Web (SW) is a well defined portal that helps in extracting relevant information using many Information Retrieval (IR) techniques. Current Information Retrieval (IR) techniques are not so advanced that they can be able to exploit semantic knowledge within documents and give precise result. The terms, Information Retrieval (IR), Semantic Web (SW) and Ontology are used differently but they are interconnected with each other. Information Retrieval (IR) technology and Web based Indexing contributes to existence of Semantic Web. Use of Ontology also contributes in building new generation of web- Semantic Web. With the help of ontologies, we can make content of web as it will be markup with the help of Semantic Web documents (SWD’s). Ontology is considered as backbone of Software system. It improves understanding between concepts used in Semantic Web (SW). So, there is need to build an ontology that uses well defined methodology and process of developing ontology is called Ontology Development.

Ontology Partitioning: Clustering Based Approach

Ontology Partitioning: Clustering Based Approach

Soraya Setti Ahmed, Mimoun Malki, Sidi Mohamed Benslimane

Статья

The semantic web goal is to share and integrate data across different domains and organizations. The knowledge representations of semantic data are made possible by ontology. As the usage of semantic web increases, construction of the semantic web ontologies is also increased. Moreover, due to the monolithic nature of the ontology various semantic web operations like query answering, data sharing, data matching, data reuse and data integration become more complicated as the size of ontology increases. Partitioning the ontology is the key solution to handle this scalability issue. In this work, we propose a revision and an enhancement of K-means clustering algorithm based on a new semantic similarity measure for partitioning given ontology into high quality modules. The results show that our approach produces meaningful clusters than the traditional algorithm of K-means.

Ontology based Knowledge Management for Administrative Processes of University

Ontology based Knowledge Management for Administrative Processes of University

Anand Kumar, Sanjay K. Dwivedi

Статья научная

Knowledge management is a challenging task especially in administrative processes with a typical workflow such as higher educational institutions and Universities. We have proposed a system aSPOCMS (An Agent-based Semantic Web for Paperless Office Content Management System) that aims at providing paperless environment for the typical workflows of the universities, which requires ontology based knowledge management to manage the files and documents of various departments and sections of a university. In Semantic Web, Ontology describes the concepts, relationships among the concepts and properties within their domain. It provides automatic inferring and interoperability between applications which is an appropriate vision for knowledge management. In this paper we discussed, how Semantic Web technology can be utilized in higher educational institution for knowledge representation of various resources and handling the task of administrative processes. This requires exploitation of knowledge of various resources such as department, school, section, file and employee etc. of the University by aSPOCMS which is built as an agent-based system using the ontology for communication between agent, user and for knowledge representation and management.

Ontology-driven Intelligent IT Incident Management Model

Bisrat Betru, Fekade Getahun

Статья научная

A significant number of Information Technology incidents are reported through email. To design and implement an intelligent incident management system, it is significant to automatically classify the reported incident to a given incident category. This requires the extraction of semantic content from the reported email text. In this research work, we have attempted to classify a reported incident to a given category based on its semantic content using ontology. We have developed an Incident Ontology that can serve as a knowledge base for the incident management system. We have also developed an automatic incident classifier that matches the semantical units of the incident report with concepts in the incident ontology. According to our evaluation, ontology-driven incident classification facilitates the process of Information Technology incident management in a better way since the model shows 100% recall, 66% precision, and 79% F1-Score for sample incident reports.
