In this paper, a comparative study of Wideband MUSIC method, Joint Diagonalization Structure (JDS) method and Beam-Space Genetic Algorithm (BGA) is presented with respect to resolution probability and Root mean square error (RMSE) evaluated in both low and high Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) regions. The simulation results show that BGA has higher resolution probability than the JDS method and Wideband MUSIC method in low SNR region while in the high SNR region, Wideband MUSIC has higher resolution probability followed by BGA and JDS method. RMSE is smallest for BGA as compared to JDS and Wideband MUSIC in low SNR region. In the high SNR region, Wideband MUSIC has smallest RMSE followed by BGA and JDS method.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) has emerged as potential technology for their applications in battlefields, infrastructure building, traffic surveillance, habitat monitoring, health, and smart homes. Unattended nature of these networks makes them vulnerable to variety of attacks, the inherent stringent resources makes conventional security measure infeasible. An attacker can capture a sensor node to install number of clone nodes with same privacy information causing serious security threats and deterioration in network lifetime. Current, security scheme along with distinct advantages suffer from number of limitations. A good counter attacks measure should not only cater for security and energy-efficiency but network lifetime as well. In this paper, we propose a next-node selection method which consider residual energy and clone attacks ratio in addition to distance, in order to overcome the limitation of fixed path based shortest routing. These factors are also considered while selecting the witness header in WSNs. Results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed schemes in terms of network lifetime.

Natural and man-made disasters pose an ever-present threat to our society. Providing real time information is vital in emergency management. Current disaster information systems only use and manage relatively limited information, such as, within an organization or with a few organizations which have an agreement on information content and format. As a result, a large amount of potentially precious information and natural volunteer workers are ignored. On the other hand, social media have been used by people to propagate emergent situations. Therefore, in this project, we aim to maximally utilize all of the available emergency-related information from various sources of social media to better manage natural and man-made disasters. In particular, we propose a semantics-extended social search engine that can fetch highly relevant information from social media for emergency management purpose.

Статья научная

Gene Ontology (GO) is an important bioinformatics scheme to unify the representation of gene and gene product attributes across all species. Measuring similarity or distance between GO terms is a key step for determining hidden relationship between genes. The notion of similarity between GO terms is a usual step in knowledge discovery related tasks. In literature various similarity measures between GO terms have been proposed. We have introduced a novel similarity measure scheme to improve three conventional similarity measures to reduce their limitations. The salient feature of the proposed GO Semantic Similarity (gSemSim) measure is its ability to show more realistic similarity between concepts in perspective of domain knowledge. A comparative result with other technique has also been presented that showing an improved contextual meaning of the proposed semantic similarity. This study is expected to assist the community of bio informaticians in the selection of better similarity measure required for correct annotations of genes in gene ontology.

With the development of mobile wireless technology, more people are using their smart phones to browse Web sites, do social networking, and play online games. However, a significant fraction of people in developing regions are still using simple low-end devices with limited processing and communication capabilities. Access to Internet contents and services is currently available only for Internet-enabled, Internet-capable smart devices. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose a Short Messaging Service (SMS)-based service to enable low-end cell phones to access Internet and Web services. In particular, we designed a service called iTex, allowing users to use Google web services through text messages even if they do not own Internet-enabled and Internet-capable smart devices.
