The novel is interesting from the point of view of mythological poetics, because its plot is elevated to the mythology of initiations and legends about griffins which are latent in the Petersburg text. Mythological tradition is expressed both explicitly and implicitly. The work is also of interest in terms of poetics - the narration is full of lyrical digressions and verses of the poet.
