The author of the proposed article set a task to consider the actual relations of the people to Soviet power in the Kuban in the first years after the October Revolution. Do not give a unique estimate to the studied period, but based on real facts, to show the sharp contradictions between the interests of the Soviet government and the people existing between them, on the basis of official archival data: various reports, protocols of party and Soviet bodies. The mass of power, its place in society has undergone a major revision, the revolutionary practice has come into conflict with the mass consciousness of various social groups, state intervention in all spheres of life inevitably entailed a social explosion. No study of popular resistance to the establishment of the new government in Russia cannot successfully resolve major problems in the history of this period: nature of the October revolution, the nature of the Soviet state and the specifics of early Soviet society. Social protest of the masses in the Soviet period is one of the most poorly understood problems in Russian historiography. Meanwhile, we are talking about "popular history" of the historical process, perpetrated by the masses not at the direction of the state, and in spite of it. The author of the article pays special attention to the fact that the study of protest movement is important not only historiographically, but also has an actual political connotation in modern Russia.
