Video game as a mythological and narrative projection of culture (to statement of the question)

Бесплатный доступ

A video game involves constantly reading cultural codes and texts, regardless of whether it has a developed plot (such as an interactive movie), or whether it is plotless games like Tetris. Cultural codes are deeply “wired” within our cultural reality. The most important mechanism for encrypting and decrypting these codes since ancient times is myth. Video game artistic narrative is a narrative embedded in a video game, narrated not only by the plot, but also by its other visual and symbolic articulations. The nature of the story itself encourages screenwriters to use archaic imagery and mythological devices in constructing a new aesthetic, plot and virtual-communicative reality. The article raises the question of the transformation of mythological plots in the art narrative of a video game.
