Higher education in Vietnam: key milestones and development trends

The article considers the stages of development of Vietnamese universities: feudal, French, American, Soviet, and modern. The article describes the factors of development of modern Vietnamese universities: globalization, internalization, formation of the knowledge economy, pragmatization, and democratization. The main directions of universities' activities on changing the structure, content and methods of teaching activities are discussed.
