Традиция погребений в сосудах в островной части Юго-Восточной Азии

Традиция погребений в керамических сосудах - одна из эффектных и наиболее информативных погребальных традиций в древних культурах островной части Юго-Восточной Азии. Ее происхождение связано с периодом неолита (около 4000-3500 л.н.) и распространением на территории Филиппин, Индонезии и Малайзии технологии гончарства, которая представила альтернативу ранее существовавшим практикам погребения в плетеных циновках и контейнерах. Расцвет традиции приходится на рубеж эр («Металлический век»), а отдельные проявления продолжают сохраняться вплоть до колониальной эпохи и настоящего времени. В рамках традиции в островной части Юго-Восточной Азии по особенностям трупоположения, манипуляций с частями скелета и морфологии сосудов выделяется несколько «ареалов», а погребальный инвентарь демонстрирует тесные торгово-обменные контакты с соседними территориями континентальных частей Юго-Восточной и Восточной Азии.
