The concept of sustainable development in project management. Sustainability as part of the project stakeholder management process and as an independent concept

This article focuses on sustainability in project management. The article presents information on the emergence of the concept and key terms of the concept, comparison of key aspects of project management and sustainability. The article contains two points of view. On the one hand, sustainability in project management is part of stakeholder management. On the other hand, integration of sustainability in project management is much wider concept than stakeholder management. The article also contains an analysis of sustainability in project management, as a part of stakeholder management and sustainability in project management as an independent concept. The theoretical aspects, that presented below, support the analysis of each statements: the concept of sustainability; the concept of sustainable development and the basic principles of the concept; the relationships between project management and concept of sustainability. The presence of sustainability principles in the standards and methods of project management are considered. The analyses demonstrate that sustainability should be integrated as much as possible in all project management areas of knowledge and in all process group of project management to ensure the safe development of the economy and the world.
