Автор анализирует современную американскую историографию Коммунистической партии США. Современная американская историография коммунизма и левых отличается ревизионистским характером. Американская историография коммунизма развивается как междисциплинарный проект. Современные историки в США отказались от «больших нарративов». Для историографии США характерен скептицизм относительно написания «большой истории» американского коммунизма. Методы интеллектуальной истории, истории идей, региональной истории активно используются американскими историками.
