Effective operation of the employment center in the provinces of Russia: a sociological survey

The paper explored a poll taken among the unemployed people on effective operation of an Employment Center in the Perm Region. Currently, the necessity to improve operation of this institution has been gradually realized, but nobody took any specific measures nor has drawn up recommendations upon. Therefore, this survey was not aimed at polling the unemployed only on the operation of the Employment Center, but also on drawing up some practical guidelines to enhance efficiency of operation for this institution. The survey pointed out (with the help of questionnaire circulated among the unemployed} the major challenges being typical of any employment services, i.e.: predominance of inefficient methods of coping with the challenge of employment, in particular, submission of inadequate (false) information on vacancies and processing papers on unemployment allowance; inconsistency between the kinds of assistance offered and their availability. In general, positive assessment of this Center’ operation prevailed. The authors on the grounds of the survey carried out suggested some practical guidelines enabling to reduce acuteness of situation with unemployment and raise efficiency of Employment Center’ operation.
