Symbol as a method of artistic organization in the novel “Doctor Zhivago” by B. Pasternak

In this article the specific character of the symbol and its position in the aesthetics of European symbolism are being analyzed. A similarity in the aesthetic attitudes of the symbolists and B. Pasternak is revealed. Examples of the use of symbols in the novel “Doctor Zhivago” are presented. Its symbolic plan is described. The connection between the symbolist specificity of this work and its lyricalautobiographical aspect is grounded.
