Cicatrical tracheal stenoses in patients with head and neck tumors

Narrow tracheostoma and chronic traumatization of tracheal mucosa with tracheostomic tube are the main causes for cicatrial tracheal stenosis. The technique of electric excision of cicatrial tracheal tissue with subsequent insertion of tracheal stent and formation of wide tracheostoma has been developed and applied to 30 patients. Long-term positive effect was observed in all cases.
