Retrospective analysis of the history of the development of the methodology of teaching foreign language written speech in Russia

The article is devoted to the retrospective analysis of the training of foreign-language reasoned written speech. The work considers the role and methodological potential of foreign written speech in the historical aspect in the process of teaching foreign languages. For many decades, methodologists considered foreign language writing as a secondary type of speech activity, resulting in an underdeveloped system for teaching foreign language writing. To create an effective methodology for teaching foreign language writing, we show in the historical aspect the role and methodological potential of foreign language writing in the process of teaching foreign languages.
