Ways to increase the study motivation of secondary schoolchildren

Motivation in the educational process plays a key role. Without motivation for any action, a person will not start acting. Such an obvious fact in pedagogical practice faces a lot of nuances that determine the behavior of the student in the educational process. The teacher needs to know about the types of motivation in order to be able to adapt the educational technologies to the needs of a particular student. It can help to increase the effectiveness of the educational process as a whole. This article considers ways to motivate students in the secondary school to learn a foreign (English) language. Secondary school age or adolescence (10/11-15 years) is a complex transition from childhood to adulthood. In secondary school, the child's psychology begins to change. This is what determines the importance of the chosen topic.Based on the analysis of empirical literature, the authors provide the definition of motive and the motives classifications that a teacher can influence during the educational process. Such pedagogical tools as the content of the educational material, the organization of the educational process, group forms of students work, an adequate assessment of the students work, the style of the teacher's pedagogical activity are described as effective pedagogical methods of motivating students. As an example of the classroom activity, the authors suggest game technology as an effective way to work with students to increase their motivation for learning a foreign language. The article describes the advantages of using game technologies and game elements on English classes.
