В данной статье рассматриваются социально-политические процессы в Англии конца восемнадцатого века, анализируется влияние прессы на общественное мнение, а также раскрываются механизмы взаимодействия политической элиты и общественности. Отдельно рассматривается ряд общенациональных социально-политических проблем: проблема независимости печатных изданий, проблема достоверности предоставляемой информации и проблема политических манипуляций общественным мнением.
