«Soroki» as celebrated by the old-timers and south Russian immigrants to the Altai territory in the 1950-1960s

In this article the analysis of the “Soroki ” holiday rites, that refers to the winter-spring cycle in Russian calendar during the period of Great Lent, is represented. The author gives the characterization of the ritual activities related to manufacture of bakery products (“Zhavoronki ” or “Soroki ”) and the spring songs texts sung by children. The work is an attempt to identify the nowadays specifics of the southern Russian immigrant descendants and the adjacent to them old-timers customs and rites in the 1950-1960-ies. The basis for this article served the author''s 2016 field materials, collected in the territory of a number of villages Shipunovo, Ust-Pristan, Pospelikhia, Mamontovo districts of the Altai Territory. The author uses the reconstruction method, when the villagers restore their grandmother''s recipe by author''s request, demonstrating the “Soroki ” cooking.
