The history of pedagogy, which has been developing in the space of interdisciplinary knowledge since its inception, widely uses various methods of reconstructing the past, developed by philosophy, science, civil history, cultural studies, religious studies, philology, etc. For historians of pedagogy the method of rational reconstruction is of great interest to solve its cognitive problems, which allows to organically connect the knowledge of the past pedagogical reality with the modern level and problems of pedagogical knowledge. Different researchers within different branches of knowledge interpret this method differently. R. Rorty's approach is productive, which proved the possibility of "building bridges between the dead and the living" with the help of social reconstruction.
