The article shows the problematic analysis of translations of the introductory (pre-anaphoral) dialogue of the anaphora of St. John Chrysostom - the central Eucharistic prayer. The immediate question of the transition in Orthodox worship from Church Slavonic to Russian arose in the middle of the 19th century and was actively discussed at the beginning of the 20th century. Even then, there were authors’ translations into Russian, which, however, were not widely distributed, but were intended for home use. After the events of 1917, such activity almost ceased, only a few authors translate Orthodox rites into Russian. A new phase in translation work began in the 1990s. The most common choice for translation into Russian falls on the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Therefore, the study and analysis of the data of liturgical translations becomes relevant in order to determine the difficulties that arise. The publication analyzes Russian translations of the introductory (preanaphoral) dialogue to the Anaphora of St. John Chrysostom of the following authors of the late 20th- early 21st centuries: Met. Hilarion (Alfeev), Met. Jonathan (Yeletsky), Archpriest Andrey Dudchenko, Priest George Kochetkov together with the St. Philaret Orthodox Christian Institute, Hieromonk Ambrose (Timroth), A. Volokhonsky, V. Sholokh and Hegumen Siluan (Tumanov). The review of translations shows the interdisciplinary nature of such activities, as it touches upon issues from the field of textual criticism, theology, liturgy, and Church history.
