The paper provides evidence for the relevance of studying the problem of professional identity of students, presents a theoretical analysis of the main approaches to the concepts of "professional identity" "the structure of professional identity", "of the profession as a cognitive component of professional identity". The article reveals the features of the cognitive component of professional identity of students attending full-time and part-time forms of learning at the university.
