In the context of the dialogue of cultures, issues of national identity identification come to the fore, since it is the clarification of the specifics of the reality, taking into account the unique cultural, historical and linguistic landscape that makes ethnic interaction successful and mutually enriching. The theme of national identity is clearly revealed by cultural names, being a unique source of information about the identity of peoples and a way to remove national-specific barriers in a situation of interaction of different cultures. The study of cultural names has a practical value, as it leads to easier understanding of a particular fragment of a foreign culture. The article discusses the cultural names of the Khanty people, the small people of the north of Russia, whose settlement territory is located in the north of Western Siberia. The aim of the research is study, systematization and description of cultural names as ethnic marked units that convey the characteristics of the national color of the people in the works of multi-genre literature. Khanty are people who lead a nomadic lifestyle, forced to adapt to harsh climatic conditions, engaged in reindeer husbandry, fishing and hunting. The specificity of the traditional way of life is reflected in the lexical composition of the language, toponymic material and is distinguished by national markings. The study reveals the linguistic, pragmatic and socioculturological properties of vocabulary with a cultural component.
