The objective of this study was to study the mechanisms of adaptation and body image in patients after cardiac surgery. The main sample consisted of patients with heart transplantation. It was revealed that patients with heart transplantation were more characterized by an open manifestation of aggression, anxiety and suspiciousness, as well as dissatisfaction with their body and low self-esteem. It is established that patients with heart transplantation experienced limitations in the performance of their activities. The results of this work actualized the need for psychological support for patients of cardio-surgery stations. Effective psychocorrection at different stages of heart transplantation required a specific training of the clinical psychologist, considering both personality-psychological characteristics and characteristics of the response to surgical intervention.
