History of falsification of medicines in Russia

In the presented article the history of origin and development of counterfeiting of medicines in the Russian state is considered. Based on the historical and legal analysis the periodization of the main stages of this process is formulated, conclusions are drawn about their essential characteristics. It is important to note that the problem of the falsification of medicines has appeared long ago. It seems possible to state the fact that counterfeiting of medicines occurs simultaneously with the appearance of medicines and their spread in Russian society and the state. As part of this study, it seems necessary to consider the history of the emergence and development of drug fraud in Russia, not limited to the time frame for the creation of a modern state. Under the falsification (from the Latin falcificare -to forge) it is customary to understand forgery, conscious distortion, substitution (genuine, present) for false [1]. This definition is the most complete from the substantive point of view, fully reflects the content of this concept and is used in all areas of life, regardless of the specific subject of falsification. The only important addition is that falsification of something is most often done with the mercenary goal of material enrichment.
