Карциномы яичников - одно из ведущих заболеваний среди причин смертности женщин по всему миру. Ранняя диагностика данных опухолей затруднена в первую очередь из-за неопределенности в отношении источника их возникновения. В настоящее время двумя основными конкурирующими теориями происхождения серозных карцином яичника высокой степени злокачественности являются теории, рассматривающие в качестве источника развития этих опухолей поверхностный эпителий яичника и эпителий маточной трубы. В данной статье приведены доказательства обоснованности обеих теорий. Приводится обоснование выделения переходных зон между фимбриальным отделом маточной трубы, мезотелием брюшины и поверхностным эпителием яичника в качестве альтернативного источника происхождения серозных карцином яичника высокой степени злокачественности. Теория переходных зон, имеющих общее эмбриональное развитие, может стать объединяющей, нивелирующей недостатки каждой из ныне существующих.
