Ископаемые смолы Аляски: история изучения

В статье представлен обзор современного состояния знаний о находках ископаемых смол на территории штата Аляска (США). На основе малоизвестных и фрагментарных документов, найденных как в российской, так и зарубежной научной литературе, кратко описаны основные местонахождения смол. Отмечено первенство российских исследователей, упоминавших об ископаемых смолах прибрежных районов Аляски. Дана оценка уровня их изученности. Сведения о находках ископаемых смол Аляски позволяют расширить имеющуюся базу данных по смолам, а углубленное изучение их физико-химических особенностей и условий образования будет способствовать уточнению классификационных признаков ископаемых смол, а также может дать дополнительные возможности для решения вопросов, связанных с палеоботаническими и палеогеографическими проблемами при сравнении Северо-Востока России и Аляски.
