A linguistic analysis such as functional grammar is used to demonstrate how and why a text gets to be the way it is as well as the reader interprets it in the particular way. Based on that reason, this article is aimed to analyze the similarities and differences among five short news that are taken randomly from shortnews.com The data were analyzed by using the functional grammar analysis method.
