Administrative and political structure of the shamkhalate of Tarki in the 19th century

The administrative and political structure of huge and influential feudal state formation of Dagestan shamkhalate of Tarki on the basis of analysis of the information presented by Caucasus researchers and Russian authors of the 18th -19th centuries is considered in this article. According to the author the domestic political scene in the shamkhalate was not stable during that period. The power of shamkhals was restricted by despotism of omnipotent prince-beys. The absence of the classical system of vassalage was a distinguished feature of the administrative and political structure of the shamkhalate of Tarki.
