The article deals with the living conditions of mordovian resettlement in Moscow and Moscow region in the XX century. Living conditions are a set of parameters describing: the location, the amount of living space per person, the degree of home improvement. Types of dwelling in the mordovian population determined by the level of development of productive forces, the character of socio-economic relations, forms of family life, cultural and domestic traditions, as well as the conditions of the natural geographical environment. In the mordovian displaced following types of property can be identified in the study period - barracks, hostels, portacabin, basement apartments and several species of suburban housing - a simple wooden or brick houses, cottages. For dwellings mordovians Moscow and Moscow Region for the material culture is characterized by the loss of elements of ethnic specificity, as mordovian population moved in already formed settlements with mixed population, mostly Russia.
