Purpose: To study the sources of emergence and the most visible classical examples of consumer extremism. Methodology: Historical, comparative and formal-legal approaches were used. Results: Emergence of consumer extremism is analysed, its features are revealed, the sources allowing to examine the time and features of emergence of consumer extremism are studied. Prerequisites of emergence of the considered phenomenon and also the factors promoting its emergence are analysed as well. Novelty/originality/value: Article has the high scientific value as it attempts to research the rather new scientific problem.
