459 patients suffering from instable and stable angina and having some symptoms of myocardial ischemia, stenosis of anterior interventricular branch (AIVB)>50 % and the length of lesions exceeding 15 mm were examined in this multipurpose study aimed at determining the impact of drug-coated stents on clinical outcome of patients with the affected anterior in-terventricular branch of the left coronary artery. The patients were divided into two groups: those with implanted sirolimus-coated stents (234) and patients who had metal stents (225). Check coronary angiography was performed after 8 months. The measures of vessel lumen losses inside the stent (0.2 and 1.04 mm) and inside the stented arterial segment (0.26 and 0.81 mm) were reliably significant, with lower values observed in the group of sirolimus-coated stents. The occurrence of binary restenosis turned out to be 2 % in the sirolimus group and 41.6 % in patients with metal stents (p
