The impact of food import substitution on the economic security in Russia

The article investigates the problems of the current food situation in Russia that emerged on the background of the sanctions measures against it taken by Western countries, as well as the accelerated process of import substitution in Russia and its impact on economic security is being considered. The author studies the main threats hanging over the Russian economy as a result of sanctions and forecasts for the near future in the agricultural sector. The positive effect of independence of the national economy on imports, the author using the analysis of the collected information suggests possible recommendations aimed at accelerating the process of import substitution being as painless as possible for the Russian economy. Careful consideration of the issue of food security leads to the conclusion that the Russian economy now more than ever needs to establish an effective system of governance, improve the investment climate and direct leverage on the support and development of small and medium-size businesses.
