Virtopsy: innovation in criminalistics

The authors analyze the possibilities of modern scientific and technical potential of forensic medicine which allows experts to replace or supplement the traditional autopsy with the virtual alternative - virtopsy, namely: a technique of postmortem examination of the human body which combines the classic pathological or forensic autopsy with the preliminary use of computer tomography and/or MRI of the whole body without using contrast substances. The author makes a comparative analysis of the development of this technology not only in Russia, but also abroad.
