There is a hero in K.K. Vaginov's novel The Goat's Song who in the investigators' opinion shares some of his traits with Velimir Khlebnikov. The article shows that these traits are much more significant and besides point at the hero's literary prototype in A.M. Remizov's short novel Sisters of the Cross. At the same time, Vaginov's poet Sentyabr reminds the reader of somebody belonging to Khlebnikov's circle and followers. The hero seems to embody reflections about Khlebnikov's fate and the literary tradition created by him which Vaginov himself initially partly belonged to.
