Tohaku Hasegawa’ s artistik heritage: «Pine trees in the forest»

The article considers one of the most famous works of the Japanese artist of the XVI century Tohaku Hasegawa «Pine Trees in the Forest». The detailed analysis of the conceptions of emptiness, characteristic of oriental painting, is made besides the characteristic of the Momoyama period in which the master created. The author's greatest attention is attracted by interpreting the image of pines and symbolism of a pine in the Japanese culture. Tohaku Hasegawa’s work represented by a pair of six folding screens painted in the technique of monochrome painting, is included in the list of the National treasures of Japan.
