Tuvinians-Todzhu in the context of indigenous movement

We consider here the current actual problems, facing to Tuvinians-Todzhu - the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation with the traditional life-support system. We present the short review of the process of reservation the indigenous people status for Tuvinians-Todzhu. We noticed that, at the first time, Tuvinians-Todzhu was recognized small indigenous group of the North in 1991, but they did not take advantage of their rights due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. In this regard, Tuvinians-Todzhu experienced severe social and economic turmoil in 1990s. Tuvinians-Todzhu again confirmed the status of small indigenous group in 2000. The article shows the ways of Tuvinians-Todzhu self-organization: the creation of the first communities and social organizations. It is noted that the Tuvinians-Todzhu aspirations, of their communities and associations have many similarities with the aspirations of other indigenous populations. We attend that Tuvinians-Todzhu concerned about their tight situation, characterized by high unemployment, low living standards, the decline of traditional economics. We indicate that Tuvinians-Todzhu focus on the protection of their indigenous rights and shift from the revival of cultural issues to solutions of the socio-economic and political problems for the last years. First of all, Tuvinians-Todzhu as indigenous peoples who lived in their native land, consider the securing of their rights to their ancestral lands as the most important target. They also call for the revival of reindeer breeding and aim to can practice a traditional way of life in all possible completeness.
