Transportation accessibility and traditionalism in taiga insular communities

Out-of-the way regions can be considered as tests for assessment the limits of globalization and accompanied with it compression of social-economic space. Using analysis of statistics, surveys and interviews during field studies in Todzhinskii kozhuun of Republic of Tyva, and Nizhneudinskii and Katangskii counties in Irkutskaia oblast the authors examined strategies of local communities and individuals in response on challenges related with limited transportation accessibility in Siberia's taiga. One of such strategies - the phenomenon of development of traditionalism, will be discussed in the article.
