Typology of proper names used in Onega heroic poems and “Kalevala” epos

Topology of etymons forming the basis of some proper names found in Onego heroic poems and “Kalevala” epos is provided. The similarities and differences of the epic spatial organization, as well as some peculiarities of various onomastic systems are studied. The use of the cross-cultural approach helped to compare the two epic poems on the onomastic level and to define significant features of linguistic thinking inherent to different ethnic groups, as well as to reveal the particular and the general in their cultures.
