The article presents the results of research on obtaining a heat-insulating material based on peat in the Republic of Buryatia. Research has been conducted to obtain a composite material - a peat-wood heat-insulating material based on sawmill waste and low-lying peat from the Enkhaluk peat-field in the Republic of Buryatia. Various methods of peat activation were studied: by means of fine mechanical grinding-mechano-chemical activation, chemical activation by introducing a chemical additive in the form of anhydrous sodium silicate. The most optimal method of activation of peat binder has been identified. The influence of modifying additives on the physical and mechanical properties of heat-insulating peat-wood material is studied. Optimal methods of drying heat-insulating material were determined, and the technological scheme of its production was developed
