Theoretical basis for developing mechanism to form knowledge economy in a resource-extractive region

Theories of regional economy are analyzed and theoretical basis for developing the mechanism to form the knowledge economy in a resources-extractive region is proposed; the hypothesis that the innovative development of coal industry is the prerequisite for the formation of knowledge economy in Kemerovo region is put forward and substantiated.
