Technology used for manufacturing working axesin the centre of North-Eastern Rus

The technology used for manufacturing working axes of the 9th-14th centuriesin the collections from archaeological sites in the central areas of North-Eastern Rus has beenstudied to a lesser extent than that used for axes from neighbouring regions. The publishedresults of the metallographic analysis of eight axes are supplemented here by data froma further 13 specimens. Drawing on the results of metallographic analysis of axes, it hasproved possible to shed light on features of the technology used for manufacturing toolsof this kind in the central areas of North-Eastern Rus in the 9th-14th centuries
