The article is dedicated to the famous preacher, Hieromartyr John Vostorgov, who carried out his pastoral ministry at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. St. John of Kronstadt, who highly valued his activity, nicknamed him “the Chrysostom.” In his sermons, Father John of Vostorgov referred to the complex and painful issues that shook public opinion in the pre-Revolutionary years. He exposed sin with his ow lifestyle and his inspirational, profound sermons, and he strove to heal the passions and vices that were spreading in society at the time. At the center of his sermons was always the gospel of the Kingdom of God. Te sermons of the Archpriest were pronounced on particularly important topics of the day, at a time of the moral disintegration of society, but have not lost their relevance at the present time.
