Th e structure of the UN Security Council was considered. Th e role of the UN Security Council in maintaining international peace and security and in achieving other goals of the Organization has been established. Th e main interrelated problems inherent in the UN Security Council today have been identifi ed. Th e most optimal, according to the authors, mechanism of the UN Security Council functioning in the modern world is revealed.
