Lifestyle of citizen as a social mechanism of constructing the urban boundaries

The article presents the thesis about the possibility of defining city boundaries using methods of studying the lifestyle. The example of the city of Ulan-Ude shows the possibility of this methodological approach, verifies the universality of methods of urban studies, taking into account specifics of each individual city. To explore urban boundaries and historical locus in Ulan-Ude, a methodological approach is needed, based on the unity of the social, historical and spatial components of lifestyle. In this article, the author, using the experience of the Warsaw School of Sociology, analyzes the study of the lifestyle of the historical district of Ulan-Ude. The main components of the citizens' style are singled out: it is socio-economic status, migration, mobility, social communication, and urban cultural images. The concludes that construction of urban boundaries is due to the activities of people, respectively, all aspects of lifestyle affect mental boundaries and determine the logic of the formation of the historical locus.
