Establishment of the “payroll” method of labour exploitation in the Russian village in the 1930s – 1980s

The article describes the process of transition from exploitation methods based on dues in the Russian village in the 1930 – 1980s to predominantly economic, “payroll” mechanisms. The authors analyse the legislation on the introduction of guaranteed wages in collective farms; compare the level of wages in industry, state farms and collective farms; study the correlation of wages in kind and cash payments to agricultural workers, as well as the structure of replenishment of the budget of a rural family.
