Ways and means of suicide attempts of men in custody

The study included 100 investigative men arrested after the suicide attempt. It is shown that in the penal system of the ways and means of suicidal acts are qualitatively different from the general population: self-cuts, including penetrating injuries – 60.0%, ingestion of foreign bodies – 27.0%, hanging – 13.0%. Blackmailing forms present in 71.0% of cases. The majority of study leading motives of suicidal activity directly related to the criminal charges and imprisonment. It is concluded that the preventive measures to improve by controlling access to the means specified in the work of suicide should include methods of psycho-correction, as well as measures to identify individuals with increased suicidal activity.
